Scratched window panes - a regularly found defect in new builds

One thing that clients always notice without fail either pre-completion or once they get the keys are the scratches on the windows (or on balcony or terrace doors) that they spotted when checking the views from bedrooms and living rooms. We estimate (having carried out approx 3,500 snagging surveys and inspections) that at least 75% of all new properties have this issue. In most cases, scratches can be removed by applying heat or if very badly scratched it is much easier to replace the entire pane.
